How it works?

!! SoundFontCombi does not produce any sound !!

SoundFontCombi only connects ALSA sequencer clients, this connections are stored in your configuration file (~/.sfc). Each time you start SoundFontCombi, hi try to connect to your devices. That's the reason why you need to start your "virtual" devices before start SoundFontCombi. At this point, you can play a "note" in your input devices (Midi Keyboard, vkeybd ..) and SoundFontCombi send this note to what Output devices you want, and you can change the sound program, volume, pan, reverb ....for each channel of each output device. Then you can ear up to eight different sounds each time you play a "note", and you can store that in a easy way.

You dont need six output devices, to do that, the virtual wavetable devices like Timidity, Fluidsynth, or not virtual like SBlive, Audigy ... can reproduce different sounds for each midi channel, and with only one of this devices you can design you own sounds. This devices use SoundFont files (*.sf2) for generate the sound, and that's the reason for the name of this program (SoundFontCombi).

But in fact what does SoundFontCombi is convert your "poor" keyboard in a professional master keyboard.
