That pic reminds me of Western Washington during the rainy season --- Oh, that's right, the rainy season lasts from Jan 1 to Dec 31. UGH!! I grew up there, that's why I live anywhere BUT there Laughing

apologies - I used KSnapshot as is rather than playing with scrot and imagemagick as I did with the openbox shot
I'm sure KSnapshot has some settings to play with but I was in a bit of hurry

@anticapitalista: do you mean a WM or a DE? a DE for 3.1MB I'd like to see Smile

A DE! Lxde plus fluxbox or openbox or rox plus fluxbox.

Should have commented on the picture. Nice. Where is it from?

I'll give you lxde (lxpanel, lxsession, pcmanfm)+flux (total installed size 2.9MB approx) and flux+rox (total installed size 2.5MB approx)

Openbox is 4.1MB uninstalled (which I use with thunar).

Then we could debate about terminals, editors etc, whether they are part of the DE or additional apps Smile But actually this was a good reminder about lxde - I always forget about it Neutral

the wallpaper is from kde-look.org Stormfield II

KDE4 has a feature a bit like gdm-setup which allows you to browse online content through its desktop configuration tool - it's defaulted to kde-look.org not unsurprisingly

As I've noted elsewhere, I'm a gnome/openbox on arch/gentoo type, so using Kubuntu for me is quite a shift, but I'm trying to be open-minded and have found some nice things so far

@DedannaRocks!: very tidy - and quite deceptive - looks like a Gnome panel at bottom left but more like KDE at bottom right; you seem to be using Gion icons, Netscape(?). Is it Mandriva?

Was Gnome, yes, with Gion icons. MDV.

I've made a change.
