@masinick: interesting read Smile I still have redhat install cds from 5.x through 9.x kicking around in a box somewhere, and the odd mandrake cd or two as well; suse I never bought but finally twigged how to do the ftp install around the time of this article (actually suse 8.1) and it definitely had a more polished feel but sax2 had me tearing my hair out - that could well have been the catalyst for trying gentoo...

as to 100Gigabit ethernet, I have 100M fibre which is for TV and phone as well and I have to say that it covers those 3 uses (simultaneously) well, so apart from a numbers competition or scientific application, I can't see that the average home user has a need for such bandwidth today

even if you have the need and you have the availability, it's a transactional thing, so you're dependent on the connection speed of the server and general traffic conditions on the net; best analogy I can think of is sitting in gridlock watching the guy in the ferrari inching forward no faster than the rest of the traffic Wink
