I thought it was quite interesting, but then had not intended to use it any longer than to give it a what for, so saw no need to second guess the the builder.

I only went through the trouble because i had actually been using Calculate 9.6 as my default OS on my #2 desktop. My install was fully updated, and had no issues with these random dependencies. But I wanted to see how it was from install. Unfortunately, I found out.

I definitely would suggest installing 9.6 and emerging world over installing 9.7 IMO, if someone had the time to wait for it to update.

Incognito is an open source LiveDistro based on Gentoo Linux assisting you to securely and anonymously use the Internet almost anywhere you go, e.g. your home, work, university, favourite Internet café or local library. Incognito can be used from either a CD or a USB drive and has several Internet applications (Web browser, IRC client, Mail client, Instant messenger, etc.) pre-configured with security in mind, and all Internet traffic will be anonymized. To use it, you simply insert the CD or USB that you have installed Incognito on in a computer and restart it. Incognito should then start as an independent operating system instead of Microsoft Windows or whatever operating system that is installed on the computer. It is also possible to run Incognito as a guest operating system inside Microsoft Windows by simply inserting the media while Windows is running which should present you with a menu.

Incognito is Free Software released under the GNU/GPL (version 2).

PostPosted: Fri Oct 30, 2024 4:44 pm    Post subject: Fireball Reply with quote

Fireball is a VMWare virtual appliance that builds a Live CD containing a stripped-down custom version of Gentoo Linux, focused on providing firewall and other services to a network. When burned to a CD-ROM, it will allow an otherwise unused, old computer to boot it and act as a network security device. Notable features in the generated ISO include:

* IPv4 support (of course!)
* IPv6 support
* provides tunneled IPv6 access for entire internal network to the Internet - requires a free account with [go6.net] or another tunnel broker
* iptables and ip6tables firewalls
* SSH server for full command-line access
* DNS Cache
* DHCP server
* tcpdump & other networking utilities
* Perl and Python scripting languages
* NTP client
* DSL support
* Extremely customizable, just like a regular Gentoo Linux system
* Unnecessary programs removed from generated ISO, resulting in small size (about 65 MB in default configuration).
* Low hardware requirements: Pentium computer with a CD-ROM drive capable of booting, and two network interface cards. No hard disk, etc ( e.g monitor, keyboard ) Feel free to contact me at indy@seerofsouls.com.
