Hello, my first post here at USA LUG! Shocked Mad
I have the Windows version and am trying to install it on Mandrake 9.1 - The catch? I want to use 1.11 or 1.16n patches. Twisted Evil

Just some pointers to get me started in the right direction? I am thinking about giving WineX a shot, but who knows? Question

Here's the basic crash course:

Be sure to be root.
#cd /usr/local/games
#mkdir quake3
#cd quake3
#mkdir baseq3
#cp /mnt/cdrom/Quake3/baseq3/* . /baseq3/

download the patch that you want to use
cd to the directory where it has been saved to and
#./linuxq3apoint-(number).x86.run

Follow the instructions and it will put the files from the pointrelease where ever your baseq3 folder is.

Don't use the game under root, su to a common username.
#su your username

open a run box (Alt + F2) and type quake3

I'll edit this post a bit more, with more details. Smile

You guys are very welcome! Smile The 1.30 + patches are very easy to use. If someone is using an older patch (i.e. 1.16) it's a bit more work, but it will still work. Smile

There were some mouse problems with 1.32a so I had to upgrade to 1.32b if that's of any relevance to anyone.
