Anybody know of a good avi player for SUSE 9.0 The reason I ask is that I have some avi files that when they open in kaffeine I get the following message:

Doesn't suse support urpmi?
Would that ease the pain??
(this is why I don't use RPM distros - you should either have NO dependancies like slack, or fully featured dependancy managment like debian or Gentoo, no middle ground)

Actually, there should be official SuSE packages. Could even be on the install CDs.
There is no middle ground with urpmi unless you do not have the software sources configured and that's no fault of urpmi. Even if you don't have the software sources configured properly, urpmi will read the rpm and tell you what deps you need. Then just google/linux.

SuSe has crippled Xine in almost the exact same manner as Red Hat crippled XMMS, for reasons of the decoders being licensed intellectual property.
Nukes: I'm using SuSe because Slack DOES have dependency h***, and, most ironically, Xine was the program where I had the dependency issue and got disgusted with Slack. No need to help me configure Slack - it is on the shelf until Swaret gets a GUI; at that time I'll return to slack and that'll probably be next fall.
