|
|
Hey all,
I just installed KDE 3.2.2 and its pretty cool (and faster than I expected). Firefox has treated me well but I like some of the options on konqueror for some web pages (like being able to change the browser identity). One option it is lacking (or I just cant find it) is a pop up blocker. Does anyone know how to turn it on in konqueror?

Back in the days of KDE 2.3, Konqueror had the Java Script Policies,
Open new windows. The only options were either allow, ask or deny. The smart setting was first introduced in KDE 3.0. Other interesting features of Konqueror 3.0 was improved handling of Java
Konqueror has come a long way shortly, especially since Apple decided to use KHTML as the engine for safari. (BTW KDE 3.2 was the first to ship with Apple's improvements to KHTML).

And the new user may not know how to let needed pop-ups come in to the page. | I can relate to this!
In Opera, I had popups set to 'Block all popups' (not sure why). Later, I was visiting a website to get an operators manual. I clicked the manual link 5 times, but only got a blank new window, I then went to the companies canadian site, tried the same manual via the canadian site, nothing.
Each click would bring up a new window, but the window was blank.
I was in the middle of composing a message to the webmaster when I decided to check the popup settings..... Oops.
I got the manual after I set Opera to "block unwanted popups". Yeah, my fault - I set the popup function to blocking all popups, but then again, all websites can most definitely provide their documents without a popup window, so they webmaster could easily choose to avoid the popup method.
Just remember that if a web page is not working, you'll possibly need to allow popups to get what you are failing to get.

Thing is, when it's set to "smart" it will allow certain pop-ups.

Allows pop-ups from visited web site, blocks 3rd party pop-ups.
