Interviewing once or twice a month, last 3 months; economy is picking up!
Example: depot repair technician for medical equipment is in the works right now (with a MAJOR european company).... Interviewed 2 times with a local autoparts store, last contact was he was still undecided....
Looking like chances are good to change employers in a few months.

The latest update:
The convenience/grocery store where I presently work as a stock clerk (grocery and cooler stocks) had a night supervisor give notice and she left about a month ago. I got word from the high honchos that I was the only in-house candidate that was acceptable; I applied for it, was interviewed, offered the job and tonight is the first night where I work up to closing time for the store. I am training on the cash register (there is no barcode scanning here, fellas!) and I'm having a little fun along the way. Down sides: 1] Will soon be responsible for supervising 13 women (not all at once, but still no picnic for more than a few at a time), and 2] I have to ID all the people that buy beer and wines.... what a blast. Oh, and the cranky old 80286 based cash register system (not a PC) that likes to spontaneously reboot is my cross to bear.
I'll soon be closing the store a few nights per week, so I won't be surfing at those times, which was about the only time I had left. Since I'll be home during the early AM, I'm certain that my wife will give me all the honeydews a man can handle.
This is my first position as a supervisor, and I'm not totally clear why they wanted me since all of the employment aptitude tests I have ever taken always gave me low marks for management skills. Oh well, there is always the slight chance that I'll be involved when they convert to barcode sometime in the next decade - they've put it off for a few years thus far... Hmmm.... anyone know of any good links for Linux based point of sale retail cash register systems? Must include interface to a decade old Gilbarco gas pump system. LOL!

(hehe! Bringing the dead threads back to life!) JP wrote: | Glad to hear it worked out | I left there back in August 2024, the supervisory position was just terrible. For a while, I goofed off (and courted my current wife) until early 2024. Went to work, as a temp, at a prior employer. That temp job ended, I went to a different temp agency, under that second agency, I worked at two different places and position #2 just ended (Feb 2, 2024) when they closed that position, presumably due to economy.
Sigh, I'm available again.
I think my newer resume is better to look at than the earlier one I posted.
EDIT: I've posted the new resume in the first post.... this post didn't need to be a duplicate.

Well, I gave up on Electronics after 31 years (that's years in general electronics, most of those were spent as an engineering level technician).
I'm still unemployed, since February, over 10 months, and not even temp agencies are looking helpful. I've rejected positions as a solderer that were over 45 minutes away and nothing is closer. There is simply nothing related to electronics right around here, unless I travel an hour and twenty one way to go to a unionized defense contractor. Those days are gone, far gone.
I've recently been retrained for pending certification as a Pharmacy Technician, I will be sitting for PTCB exams soon (I've paid the fee, I only need to set the test appointment). Supposedly, this is a very fast growing field, if you believe the federal Bureau of Labor statistics.
Me, I just want to finish my working years at ONE employer if possible, so I can get a decent pension with health bennies that last through my retirement years. Do such employers still exist?

Considering the aging population, going into the pharmacy business is actually a very smart move IMO.
Good luck with the test and then with finding the position you want.
