There seems to be some discussion over on lwn.net that maybe people are fed up with Jorg Schilling acting like he 'owns' cdrecord, which is GPL'ed. I personally think people misread a single sentence and have blown this out of proportion.

Looks like exciting things are afoot in burner land, stay tuned people!
