I can run K3B as root fine. I haven't tried burning a CD yet, but I when I press the "Write CD" button, the dialog box comes up. As a user, I get an error saying no burner found. I set the permissions via the "K3B Setup". I refuse to use the application under root as a solution as that is a security whole. Ideas and assistance is appreciated in advance.

run k3bsetup as root, set the burn groups to users, or add your users to the group burners...that should help you out (thanks manchu). Smile

That was the first thing I did. It still won't work. Is there another good app around? I hate xcdroast.

Apparently (off the k3b website) Linux 2.6.8 and 2.6.8.1 have a bug in them that keeps normal users from burning CDs

You could chmod +s the cdrecord program.
Alternatively a program I've found to run nicely is eroaster.
It's in portage Smile
