Ok i was having some issues with the new firefox (i think it was the way i emerged stuff) and tried to delete the ~/.phoenix folder i deleted it and unmerged firefox then reemerged firefox. Unfortunately whenever i try and save preferences it says cant write to config file. I checked and it never regenerated .phoenix. i have tried stealing my sisters .phoenix directory but i t doesnt work. Help me!

My Firefox user directory is /home/germ/.mozilla/firefox.

If you installed Firefox globally, you should run it as root first. That will create some necessary files and give write permissions to users.

yes, thats what I do first also and the imput I get from others. Run as root first. Not exactly sure why you have to do that but when I don't do that. firefox does the same thing you mentioned

I've Googled around and haven't found anything. Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas... Sad

EDIT: OK, I have one more idea. Start Firefox with the -P switch and that should bring up the Profiles dialog. Create a new profile and see if Firefox works correctly with it. If that fixes it, just run Firefox with the new profile. Add -P <name of profile> to your Firefox command and it will automatically start the new profile.

Mine would be:
Code:
/usr/local/firefox/firefox -P germ
