Hi. I am running RH 9, and trying to install Audacity. I did the ./config, and tried 'make'. Here's what it said:

[root@localhost audacity-src-1.2.2]# make
make -C lib-src
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/lberg/audacity-src-1.2.2/lib-src'
cd allegro && make
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/lberg/audacity-src-1.2.2/lib-src/allegro'
g++ -c -g -O allegro.cpp -o allegro.cpp.o
make[2]: g++: Command not found
make[2]: *** [allegro.cpp.o] Error 127
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/lberg/audacity-src-1.2.2/lib-src/allegro'
make[1]: *** [allegro/allegro.a] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/lberg/audacity-src-1.2.2/lib-src'
make: *** [audacity] Error 2

Is there anything I can do to fix it? Confused

you need to install the g++ compiler. allegro is a c/c++ library. Wink

It should be easy for you to use: `yum install gcc`. I am not sure if RH9 has Yum though. I'd suggest upgrading to Fedora Core.

Also you can use apt-rpm. But yeah, the problem was you didn't have gcc. g++ (development tools) installed.. should be on your cd's. Also, make sure to run configure again and see that it recognizes your g++, gcc installation.

is there anything besides gcc? Or is there an RPM for gcc? I can't get gcc to install.

There should be a gcc RPM on your install CDs.
