I need some help with vi... My system is using Debian Sarge... typing vi actually executes elvis, I also have vim

My problem is when I type for example
Code:
vi index.html
instead of puting my file source in a color coded format, I get the same thing as I would if I loaded
Code:
lynx index.html

The point is that I want to edit the code, and not view (particularly not in a text browser) it. if I type
Code:
vim index.html
I get the source code, albeit it is not color coded.

What can I do. Confused

The vi is probably a symlink to something else. Open the file in vim, and use
Code:
:syntax on
to turn on the syntax highlighting.
