Upgrading thunderbird from 0.8 to 0.9

Can someone help me figure out how to upgrade to thunderbird 0.9 Surprised I am running 0.8. My system is running Debian "Sarge" and a .deb for the newer version of thunderbird is not out yet. I would like to use Enigmail which is for version 0.9

The instructions on the thunderbird sight arn't quite clear to me, can some one help me...

I know I am a greenhorn to Linux.
