I'm not an amateur, but I have been close enough to the field that I picked up a few links....

Aldo is a morse tutor released under GPL
Aldo is mainly developed under GNU/Linux (I'm using Slackware 9)
At this moment Aldo has three kinds of exercises:
    1. Classic exercise:
With this exercise you must guess some random strings of characters that Aldo plays in morse code.
      You can select:
        1. Speed in chars per minute or words per minute.
        2. Which chars to use for exercise.
        3. Number of random strings.
        4. Number of chars for each string.

    2. Koch method

    3. Read from file
With this exercise you can write something in a text file and read this file with Aldo.

Quote:
This is the home of CWirc, an X-Chat plugin for sending and receiving raw morse code over IRC. CWirc is a plugin for the X-Chat IRC client to transmit raw morse code over the internet using IRC servers as reflectors. The transmitted morse code can be received in near real-time by other X-Chat clients with the CWirc plugin. CWirc tries to emulate a standard amateur radio rig : it sends and receives morse over virtual channels, and it can listen to multiple senders transmitting on the same channel. Morse code is keyed locally using a straight or iambic key connected to a serial port, or using the mouse buttons, and the sound is played through the soundcard, or through an external sounder.

Note that CWirc doesn't do any morse decoding : it simply transmits and receives morse code timing events. A standard IRC user on the same IRC channel you're transmitting morse on will only see coded lines when morse code is transmitted. Only other CWirc users can receive what you send.

Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) is a new digital radio standard for the long-, medium- and short-wave ranges. The standard was formed by a consortium in co-operation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The new system offers the radio stations and new service providers access to the multimedia age with small bit rates for large target areas and long distances.

Not much to say here... if you are an amateur, this is probably familiar turf.
