The Firefox Guide: You Want It, We Have It

A user-friendly guide to the open-source browser that's taking the Web by storm.

By Barbara Krasnoff Courtesy of Desktop Pipeline

Mozilla's Firefox browser has become one of the hottest applications available today. Word is getting around that, besides not being vulnerable to the same malware attacks that are plaguing Microsoft's Internet Explorer, it's an excellent browser.

Several of Pipeline's editors share this enthusiasm, and have written articles and reviews covering some of the best features of Firefox. In order to help users get the latest Firefox tweaks and fixes, here is a ongoing roundup of the how-to articles we've put together.

Check back to find out what's been added.

Maybe I should have started a new thread, but I like keeping all good things in one spot, so here is my contribution.

Linked at the bottom of the article in Germs post is another article (by Scot Finnie, author of Scot's Newsletter) which discusses some extensions for FireFox.... the article is Make Firefox A Perfect Fit.

In my link, there is discussion of 'about:config' which you enter into the URL bar...

Then visit How To Modify Hidden Preferences Using about:config.. Also from that article (the article is definitely a must read): About:config Entries and Documented Preferences. Users might also try 'about:cache' and 'about:plugins'.

Interknot Exposer, eat your heart out!

Good read. This should make Firefox everything that Windows is not.

My new avatar was a clue, was it? Or was the clue found in my rank text? Laughing

Honestly, I didn't get really hooked until after I read the 'perfect fit' article. At that point, 2 things had happened: I had enough time to see FF was faster and better written, and also I realized that FF was Open Source where Opera is not open.

Then I decided FireFox was better than Dropera.

Ohhh maaannn.... did I just dis Opera? Whoa....

In any event, yes, I'm sticking with FireFox for a spell.

Firefox is like hot soup on a cold day.

or like finding 10$ on the sidewalk when you're broke.

Firefox is good for you.

Sadly, these builds are only available for the Evil-O$

I fixed your quote tags - you needed to use double quotes. --mmmna

More goodness about the 'about:' tools..... from a site which serves adherents to the EvilOS .
