I have tried to make a purchase at Newegg for the last week without success. I finally tried with Konqueror and it went through with no problem, which leaves me with just trying to figure out why it's doing this all of a sudden. A support email reply I got today from Newegg said:
Quote:

Thank you for contacting Newegg.

You may run into shopping cart problems usually for one of the following reasons:
1. Cookies are not enabled. (they are)
2. The master clock on your computer is not set correctly.( it is set correctly)
3. The terminal you are using is behind a firewall.( never stopped it before)
4. The products you are attempting to purchase are sold out, or there is a lesser quantity than you wish to purchase.( my purchase went through with Konq)
5. You are using a browser less than Internet Explorer 5.1.( N/A but what could be less than IE.... anything? Laughing)
6. Some customers experience trouble when using any Netscape browser.( Eh?)
-- At any rate, if all else fails, please try a different terminal.( I tried on two different boxes)

Apparently there is something up with how newegg handles FF.
I use the User Agent Switcher but it's always set on it's default setting. I use the well known piplining tweaks in this version (ver 1.0) as well as earlier versions and I have the network:http.sendReferrerHeader set to zero but like the other tweaks, I have used that setting in earlier versions.
Anyone else have this experience?
TIA for any info or suggestions you can provide.

I've always used Mozilla at NewEgg and never had a problem. I use the bleeding edge releases of Mozilla, as well. Currently Mozilla 1.8a6 and Firefox, no offense, is just a stripped down version of Moz. I'm not sure what the problem is. If I have it set to only accept images from the "Originating Server Only", I have problems at buy.com, but never at newegg.

Just some people, not all, Germ. Wink

Newegg has that backwards. Netscape is a Gecko browser now.

Response to me from QuickTax (Intuit) when I complained that Firefox isn't supported. Shame on them.
Well... I was able to connect with Firefox on Windows, but not Firefox on Linux.
I'm voting with my wallet. They get no money from me.

Hello Jeramy,

QuickTax web uses newer technology that has not yet been standardized by the w3. Although firefox is a very nice browser its developers have chosen not to implement some of the non standardized technology that is used by QuickTax web. Microsoft’s software does however implement future technologies that have not yet been standardized and for that reason it is the only browser that supports the Quickax web system.

Thanks,
Michael

Edit: ufile.ca works in Gecko browsers on Linux. The only error I got was "You don't have a PDF plugin in your browser. Click this link (which takes you to Mozilla's page) to get it"

No offense taken. Thanks for replying.Smile
I do have it set to accept images from the "Originating Server Only". Next time I use Newegg I try it with that option disabled.

Weird, I've never had a problem ordering form Newegg with Firefox 1.0 buy my last order was Christmas day. At what point does the transaction fail? Are you able to place an item into your cart at all or does it just simply fail when you try to finalize the transaction?

I get as far as clicking the "Place Order" button and it goes to the error page, which says:
Quote:
All orders must be placed through Newegg.com's provided checkout
process. Please visit http ://www.newegg.com to place your order.

I am then returned to the shopping cart page where I started. Rolling Eyes
I've duplicated all the preferences from Moz to FF 1.0 and it still does it. Of course, I'll have to cancel whatever is on the order if I find something that works. Laughing
