Did you try burning the mp3's as a data cd instead of an audio cd?

Do you have Audacity installed?
You can load mp3s and save as wav files with it.

Hmmm, I've never put mp3's on a cd. I'll try burning one just to play around with it (which is another way of saying I'm clueless).

What version of K3B? I used to get that error with the original version of K3B that came with SuSE 9.1. If I remember correctly I had to go to K3B.org and download the latest version in order to be able to burn music or copy music CDs.
EDIT: my bad, that was SuSE 9.0 that had the crippled version of K3B. http://usalug.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.html?p=13947

I was wondering if the mp3 is some how not being used by k3b because of the byte rate.
I think usualy ripping from tape or VHS will result in mp3s with hissing or noise.
I think Audacity could clean them up and export them to wav so k3b can read them.
I am just guessing though.
It has been along time since I ripped audio or video like this for DVDs or Audio CDs.

I didn't even know that K3B had a plugin like that. I hope you find it. Neat!
Before I even knew that as an option, I just converted them to WAV and then drag and dropped to K3B.
If it makes you feel any better, last week, my niece was complaining about how she was getting major grief from Windows Media Player and trying to burn files in wmv format.

the nice thing about k3b is that it will burn anything to a data cd. music however you must have the proper plugins and outside programs. with music and video you run into your different compression settings. ogg being the standard for linux, mp3 encoder, and decoders aren't as easy to comeby.
anywho....i solved the problem. just went to k3b and downloaded the new binary for suse 9.1. burning to cd audio from mp3 as i type this. thanks for all the help guys |
