avi Playback Problems

I'm having some problems getting some avi files to playback on my SuSE box. I tried a variety of methods including uninstalling the version of xine that came with SuSE and installing the "full version" off the internetalong with the w32 codecs and that didn't work. I then installed MPlayer and that got some of the files to work. However I've got about 40 gigs of avi files that I cannot access yet if I go try on my windows box I can with any problems. Any ideas folks Confused

You might try aviplayer. It's part of the avifile package, IIRC.
