Some Quake3 and UT2004 troubles

I've just installed the quake 3 demo from portage, and it runs very fast Very Happy , however it has no sound, I get this error.

/dev/dsp: Broken pipe
Could not toggle.

There should not be anything blocking the sound card like xmms or arts, so im kind of out of ideas.

This reminded me of some trouble I had getting ut2004 to run at all. when I start ut2004 the loading screen apears for a few seconds then I get this.

Exiting due to error
This confuses me since I have the nvidia drivers installed just fine and quake runs well, as do all of my cedega games. Rolling Eyes Any ideas?

What vid card are you using?
Do you have enough vid ram for the game?

I ask this because I just tried Doom 3 and got Open GL errors as well.
My 32 meg Nvidia isn't enough to cut it.
Good thing I am getting ready to build a new box. Smile

Not sure about the sound issue.
What card do you have for sound?
Does it do this on any other games?
Perhaps it is having troubles with Wine.
I really don't know.

i have a 256MB geforce 5700, ut2004 has run just fine on mandrake, yoper, suse, and windows. Surprised
all of my other games run great, i get a steady 90-100fps in quake3, and a good 60fps in World of Warcraft in cedega

Have you tried Doom 3 with Cedega yet?
