I've installed an MP3 compatible audio system in my car.

I've burned a data CDR using K3B which had over 100 MP3 files in the root directory.

I popped that CDR into the car player, and viola, track 1 starts playing.

Success?
No - no name, no title in the alphanumeric display - just "MP3 tr1".

Well, I was under the impression that all alphanumeric players would display the current track title and the author by reading the tag data embedded into the MP3 file which is playing. Sadly, this is not the case on my system.

It is as low cost as I could get, so naturally, I'd expect some features to be missing. Also, I read that CDDA2WAV could dump a file to be used for identifying the files on a disc. I do not have the files; I specifically commanded CDDA2WAV to stop making the files because at that time, I had no use for the files.

Do car audio decks need certain (ahem, missing) files to present track title and such? Is my deck too cheap to read tag data? Did I mess myself up via my Easytag editing efforts? Should I have set some option in a ripping program?

TIA.

You mean cd-text? Isnt that added during the conversion process?
My truck's stereo reads the cd-text title/track of only one out of dozens of legit CDs I've tried.
