About NoteEdit

NoteEdit is a free music score editor for Linux. It supports an unlimited number and length of staffs, polyphony, a MIDI playback of written notes, chord markings, lyrics, a number of import and export filters to many formats like MIDI, MusicXML, ABC Music, MUP, PMX, MusiXTeX and LilyPond and more!

NoteEdit 2.8.1 released!

After more than a year of development, the new 2.8.1 release is here! Thanks to all the translators, bug squashers, composers and arrangers who helped us bring this release to a day. The new version includes the long awaited direct printing support for various engravers and preview programs, improved import and export filters, especially export filters for LilyPond and ABC music, support for arbitrary text in import/export filters for MusicXML, complete UTF-8 rewrite for all the file formats which support it, lots of UI additions and new keyboard shortcuts, new Japanese and Brasil translations and tons of fixed bugs and crashes. release notes download section

Note that this is probably the last major version of NoteEdit released. Smaller critical bug fixes and translations could be released separately though, but the core developers have now moved to a new Canorus - The next generation music score editor.
