Hi,

I would like to install an Apache 2 within a chroot environment on a Debian Etch system. Is someone here who did this already and could help me a bit?

I did some research in Google, but found only generic Howtos on how to do this and no Debian specific documentation. I know there is a package called libapache2-mod-chroot which does not get considered in the non-Debian, generic Howtos but I would like to do it the best practice way on Debian.

I know what the purpose of a chroot is in theory but I never worked with it practically before. So any help would be very appreciated.

Cheers.

Found this: http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/securing-debian-howto/ap-chroot-apache-env.en.html - it's a bit dated, but it does try to cover the "Debian way" of doing things more or less.

Hi Stuka,

the doc form the Debian reference manual does not cover the use of libapache2-mod-chroot which should simplify things pretty much. But I can't find any documentation about how to use this mod properly.

edit: Just found this article about how to set up Apache with mod_chroot. It's written for Gentoo but it might still be useful. I will have a closer look tomorrow.
