I don't know if we've posted this one here before because I did not do an exhaustive search, but I figured that this one is useful enough to risk possible duplication.

HP has some nice courses. This one just started yesterday, it is online, and it is completely free. I took a look and Linux newbies ought to consider this one. No cost, no obligation, seems like a good deal to me.

I am not enrolling in Linux 101 (unless you think I need it JP) Laughing Laughing Laughing

Here's another one that I missed. Still open, but only for a few more days: Linux 301 introduction to Linux system administration

Hey JP, you're OT - isn't that one for the "What are you eating for lunch"" topic? Wink

Quick, do an edit, and tell us that you are munching on a delicious piece of cake as you earnestly study the finer points of Linux administration! Laughing

no, Im doing a deep study on the finer points of configuring and using irssi, while I munch on TWO pieces of cranberry/raisin cake! but thanks for the new (Linux 301) bookmark, while I'm at it Wink.

I'm doing the 101, Firewalls, and backups ..... the others were ending on Mar 7th, so I'll wait for more to come along while I work on these. I've written for a "Free Fedora 7" for the 101, but who knows, now that they're on 8, and on 9 Alpha! You can download all 6 lessons in one PDF, so I've got them saved so I peruse them at my leisure. Thanks again Wink.

You can join, download the 6 lessons all in one pdf, then look at them and take the quizzes whenever you feel like it, it isn't as if you're worried about a grade or anything ....... no homework to turn in, etc.

Glad it helps you, Mark! Now maybe you can coach ME! Do you know how to use the URL button to copy a long URL and replace it with some short text, like JP's famous "Clik"? Or maybe JP can coach me! Smile

[ URL = <You're URL> ] What you want the link to say [ /URL ]

remove spaces for it to work.

After you click "Post Reply" when the reply page comes up hover the cursor over the "URL" button and the instructions show up. Wink
