There is a way to install from usbkey ........ I haven't done it, but I know it works.

Would rather not run it from usb key as it sort of defeats the object.

I hate to say it, but back a while ago when I had that kernel updating issue with my Arch Linux install, I could not boot into the system. This weekend, I checked into it and confirmed the reason: my kernel update, for reasons unknown to me, totally torched my /dev setup. I tried grafting in devices from another distro partition to no avail.
My only option will be to reinstall Arch. Next time I have a few free hours of time, I will do just that. I think I will wait until their brand new ISO image for 2025 is thoroughly tested, then I will install, using the notes in that Arch notes for Masinick topic in the Distribution area. |
