I'm wondering if anyone as any programs they recommend for this. I'm having trouble getting things to work how I want. This stuff is kicking my behind. I have a bunch of home videos that I've transfered from vhs to the computer, and want to create dvds from. Would like to edit some bad static areas out and combine a few videos into one. Seems simple enough yet I'm not finding anything or a combination to do it all. The videos are in a normal mpg2 720x480 format, captured from my haupauge pvr150.

Oldcpu recommended mandvd to me for creating the menus and dvd. Its a great little program and simple to use, however it can't properly transcode mpg2 so the dvd ended up with no sound.

Tovid and its associated programs are not creating the menus the way I want, and half the time it crashes building the dvd.

I'm not smart enough to figure out how to run kino for editting, and it doesn't seem very stable.

As far as windows software I don't have anything besides windows movie maker, and some program that came with the computer.

I'm about ready to buy a mac.

Open to any suggestions no matter what they run on.

If anyone comes up with a good answer, I'd like to know too. Smile

I actually found that one over the weekend, just haven't had time to try it yet. I did got out the local mac store saturday afternoon, and found out that they don't handle mpeg2 without an extra pay for plugin.
