Well here's one for July 1st - Openbox again

After spending a lot of time with Arch and rarely doing much more than the occasional update for my gentoo install I went back in and tidied up a bit

Pypanel, netwmpager at the bottom, conky at the top, a dzen calendar script above the pager other details in the terminal on the left

A lot of this is lifted from various sources on Arch and Gentoo wikis and forums with adjustments to .confs for my box

Nice!

And majorly in part due to your help Jester, I now have a new one, finally. Smile

Thank you again!

Sorry, can't really get it any smaller without losing detail.

very cool - as noted elsewhere, glad you got it fixed to your liking - I have a green themed one from a while back (looks like Dec 2024...)

just browsing around and wondered if you'd be interested in a greent gtk to go with the general look & feel:

Aurora MintClear

LinuxMintAurora

MurrinaAurantiFolia

Verdin

Elyssa-Green

Nova Lime

Green is tricky though - it's either just right or totally overwhelming unlike blue which you can pretty much throw about anywhere you want Smile

Have fun

oooooo thank you! I like that Nova Lime. If it weren't for the ubuntu logo on the kicker...... but then I could change that. Smile

I've used the OB theme with the gtk of Nova Lime - with a dark background and the right icons, it can add to your desktop - have fun with those Smile

I think I'd like to take a closer look - the images linked in above are clickable and will give you a better view

have a look here at how to give us a better view of your downscaled desktop Wink

Conky is comic sans ms and everything else is domestic manners.

When the image opens in another tab you should be able to click to increase to full size?

I keep a pretty simple and light desktop. Default icon set, minimal icons on the desktop, etc.

I do have compiz installed so i can do some really neat things with my dual monitor setup. Also I have my background automatically changed to a random image every fife minutes as seen here. (yeah, this means that these screen shots are already obslelete)

Shot 1
Shot 2 (A weird look at compiz mid rotation)

gnome+compiz on gentoo, nice Smile - until last year that was my default set-up with some e17 experimentation (I've installed fewer than 10 times over 4 boxes since 2024, so it's a durable set-up for me)

since last year, having failed to get crouse onto gentoo, he succeeded getting me onto arch and in doing so I decided to go for a very stripped down approach and opted for openbox adding what I need as I go along; I now find myself using openbox more and more in gentoo as well

if you like it simple you may want to give openbox a shot or even xfce which is probably somewhere in between OB and Gnome

as noted elsewhere, nice job on the fonts and thanks for sharing; I'll also say not many people get away with crux but it works well in your set-up

as for the images, what is your native resolution? since you edited your post the linked image is larger but still seems to be less than 100% your native resolution - it's not a big deal, I just like looking at other people's screenies in detail to pick up new tricks

btw - have you considered a different font colour for conky?

1200x800, I,m not sure what's happening there. I will look into it for future.

In short, yes. It was white but I found it a little loud with this background. With the black I find I can see it if needed but it's not in my face.

Oh and I lied a little earlier. The desktop font is actually Almagro Ultra-Light. I forgot I changed it.
