| I got the libdvdcss and installed it. does it not work with the newest dvds? in kaffine i get a msg telling me i don't have permision. I don't know what might be the issue, in root on slack 12.1 kaffine found the libs for dvdcss fine

| well, both /dev/dvd and /dev/cdrom0 are in the /dev directory, since /dev is regenerated every boot, I'd say it recognises both, not to mention i can mount useing both devices

Many config files are only read when a program first loads. If you are unsure of which program it is, a reboot will do.
