encrypted dvd not playing

I got the libdvdcss and installed it. does it not work with the newest dvds? in kaffine i get a msg telling me i don't have permision. I don't know what might be the issue, in root on slack 12.1 kaffine found the libs for dvdcss fine

If you have a combo drive (dvd/cdrw) or something like that, you may need a symlink too point to /dev/dvd

Code:
ln -s /dev/cdrom0     /dev/dvd


Just guessing, haven't used slack in a long time though. Combo drives are common in laptops (and i'm guessing this is in one) Wink

well, both /dev/dvd and /dev/cdrom0 are in the /dev directory, since /dev is regenerated every boot, I'd say it recognises both, not to mention i can mount useing both devices

Loading of player part 'XinePart' failed. probably have to modify permisions

well somehow it magicaly fixed, guess it needed to be rebooted or something. weard

Many config files are only read when a program first loads. If you are unsure of which program it is, a reboot will do.
