Mostly, yes
Maybe it is me, but I tend to hold all free software in one view. OOPS
But I had a couple of sets of links to mostly administrative documentation I was going to post from Linux and Sun newsletters I recently got, and did not want to spam the site with several threads of said. Tired eyes got the better of me. If its not a problem, I'll continue tonight[img][/img]
EDIT Why stop there. Feel free to step in with your favorite all...

Without a doubt, the gentoo wiki is one of the best linux resources on the net.
Even though i personally don't run gentoo, i've used their wiki many times.

I agree. I'd say that Arch, Gentoo, Slackware, Debian, and Ubuntu contain among the best documentation. I am sure that there are others, but if you use the collective resources from these sites, it would be difficult to imagine not finding the appropriate answer unless the question is extremely distribution specific.
The one thing that continues to be elusive are a set of documentation guides that ease the path for beginners. I do think that the in depth stuff is quite adequate these days, but there remains a gap to bridge the space between knowing nothing and building expertise. Ubuntu has done some good work to help fill in those gaps though. |

The gentoo installation handbook is great there too. if you know a little bit about your system and are marginally confortable in a command line environment you can do the install. 'course you gotta be ready for a sharp learning curve to set up the rest of the box. probably not the best distro to start with.

Just to add my thanks to Gentoo documentation, even though I have never used gentoo and have no intention of doing so either._________________ antiX
