With the 250GB that Comcast is limiting me to, I've been searching for a way to measure the volume of bits going in and out of this box. I doubt that I'm hitting that celing, but some of the .iso torrents I'm hosting are generating a lot of traffic, and I'm probably coming fairly close.

None of the apps I've found seem to offer this simple function. There are lots of packet filters and other auditing utilities to tell you what kind of traffic you're receiving, but I don't see any that simply measure the amount of data going through a NIC.

Can anyone here recommend a tool to tell me how close I am to offending Comcast?

Wow. That's quite a list. Thanks.

I'm giving vnstat a whirl right now. It looks like a pretty simple tool that will suit my current needs quite nicely. Most of the other tools seem either to be 'real time' (i.e. how much am I using right now, as opposed to how much did I use this month) or much more featureful than what I need, but I may give a few of them a shot later on.

Does anyone have any experience with some of those other tools? I'd happily take suggestions about what others to try.

Thanks Rootboy

Anytime, it's nice to answer one once in awhile. Smile
