Howdy all. It has been a while since I have been on this site. I have recently moved to Houston, TX and am enjoying all the prosperity Houston has to offer. (LOL). I have a DD-WRT question. Has anybody used it? I am looking to make a wireless bridge so I do not have to pull cable through my walls. I read about this, but am hesitant to take a fully functional wireless router and potentially ruin it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I would try and avoid wireless if you can, just to much of it out there
And look into 'HomePlug' http://www.homeplug.org/kshowcase/view
I have been thinking about trying http://www.iogear.com/product/GHPB32W4/

Thanks for all of the advice. However, I got a little ansy this weekend and went for it. I was abble to get WW-DRT laid correctly in the firmware and was able to get it programmed so the wireless router getts connected to my wireless network and acts as a bridge. I am not sure how dependible this is going to be, but as of now, it is working.

I can provide links if wanted.

Please make sure to enable WPA encryption as well. DO NOT use WEP...it is seriously broken. With the tools out there it is often quicker to crack WEP than to enter a valid password. WPA is simple to set up. Additionally use a strong secure password. WPA itself cannot be cracked but weak passwords are cracked very easily. In short, WPA with a good, strong password is very secure. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the words of advice. I used WPA with TKIP and entered what I thought was a somewhat secure password. Does anybody have a password/passphrase evaluator for secureness.

I use www.grc.com/passwords.
It generates 63 or 64 character passwords.
