The Linux Distribution for the Medical World!
http://linuxforclinics.sourceforge.net/mainsite/alpha2-software.html

This section lists our releases, the Practice Management Suites and other important software related to LFC. Feel free to discuss them in our PUBLIC FORUM!

Please note that these debs are not perfect and while they won't kill your system, they may not work just the same. Try visiting their homepages for install instructions and probably updated code until I hammer out all the details.

From this point on, the choice is yours to install whatever software you wish. So try them all and pick your favourite.

WorldVistA EHR
by webmaster — last modified 2024-02-03 19:47
WorldVistA EHRTM VOE/ 1.0 Available

January 31, 2024 - WorldVistA announces the release and availability of WorldVistA EHR VOE/ 1.0, the only open source EHR that meets Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHITSM) ambulatory electronic health record (EHR) criteria for 2024. WorldVistA EHR VOE/ 1.0 is based on and compatible with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) world renowned EHR, VistA®.

After completion of the VOE project, WorldVistA made additional enhancements and successfully submitted WorldVistA EHR for certification by CCHIT. As a CCHIT CertifiedSM product, WorldVistA EHR VOE/ 1.0 has been tested and passed inspection of 100 percent of a set of criteria for functionality (ability to create and manage electronic records for all patients, as well as automating workflow in a physician's office), interoperability (a first step in the ability to receive and send electronic data to other entities such as laboratories), and security (ability to keep patients' information safe).

WorldVistA EHR VOE/ 1.0 can be downloaded here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.html?group_id=193652&package_id=228224

IMPORTANT NOTE: Downloading and installing the software does not grant permission to make claim of CCHIT certification. When it is implemented in a production environment and a Master Services Agreement signed with WorldVistA, WorldVistA will provide a module which will authorize a claim of certification to be applied to WorldVistA EHR /VOE 1.0 as implemented in that specific production environment. See Master Services Agreement for details.

CCHITSM and CCHIT CertifiedSM are service marks of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology.

Background

WorldVistA EHRTM is an open source electronic health record (EHR) based on the highly acclaimed VistA system of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The foundation for WorldVistA EHR was developed as part of the VistA-Office project, a collaborative effort funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The overall goal of the VistA-Office EHR (VOE) project was to encourage the broader adoption and effective use of EHRs among physicians by making a robust, flexible EHR solution alternative available. After completion of the VOE project in March 2024, WorldVistA made additional enhancements and submitted WorldVistA EHR for certification by theCertification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology(CCHITSM). WorldVistA EHR, Verison VOE/1.0 achieved full CCHITSM EHR

EHR Today HIS tomorrow
Open Source Healthcare Information System

PatientOS (pronounced Patient-oh-es where O and S stand for Open Source) has been designed from the outset to be a Healthcare Information System (HIS). The software architecture, design patterns and framework has been built for the complexities and challenges of an enterprise wide information system.

Internationalization, and localization is expected, even translation into multi-byte languages such as Japanese.
Why Choose PatientOS?

Healthcare is a noble field and clinicians deserve software which is of the same quality as other industries. PatientOS was designed to address the prevalent industry issue with todays software:

* User friendly? PatientOS has been designed to optimize the experience of clinicians by making functions fast, easy and simple to customize to the workflow of the users. The right default values, consistent layout, the fewest clicks, use the keyboard, and scripting behind the scenes to save work and automate actions.
* Fits your workflow? Rather than decide how clinicians must use the system the screens, process and workflow can be tailored to a user, role, clinic or hospital. The system will support and NOT CHANGE your best practices.
* Enjoy Upgrades? Users and system administrators often fear upgrades. The PatientOS upgrade process is fast and simple. Due to key specifics of the architecture the database schema, code and content are synchronized in a natural way that minimizes programming errors surfacing after upgrades.
* Functionality Coming Soon? As information systems mature they become larger and more complex and require more and more resources to get new functionality in without breaking existing functionality. PatientOS has been carefuly designed to grow to the largest size while remaining functional and enjoyable to maintain.
* Open Source? With Open Source there code quality is transparent, open for all to see. This adds a lot of value for support companies and healthcare analysts to troubleshoot and gain true knowlege of the system functionality.
* Support? With PatientOS more and more companies will support the software allowing you the freedom to choose who you wish to do business with.
* Cost? PatientOS is free.
* Free? PatientOS is Free to download. Free to own. Free to distribute. Free to sell or re-sell. In fact we will help any company with their sales. Of course there is no free lunch as you still have hardware costs and the time for you (or someone you pay) to install and support the software. However PatientOS is designed to require the minimum amount of maintenance to ensure support costs are as low as possible. Note that PatientOS integrates (optionally) with some of finest commercial drug and code database which do have licensing costs.

Debian Med
Project description

Debian Med is a "Debian Pure Blend" with the aim to develop Debian into an operating system that is particularly well fit for the requirements for medical practice and research. The goal of Debian Med is a complete system for all tasks in medical care which is built completely on free software.

Debian Med contains a set of metapackages that declare dependencies on other Debian packages, and that way the complete system is prepared for solving particular tasks. The best overview about Debian Med is given at the tasks page.

For a more in-depth discussion, several talks about Debian Med and Debian Pure Blends in general are available as slides, partly with video recording.

[ My note, also useful for biological studies and lab work. ]
