Linux Computer Engineer
job description
The Linux Computer Engineer will develop programs for specialized applications (EPICS, MDSplus) in a Linux environment using a variety of programming languages. Engineering activities encompass the software life-cycle: requirements analysis, design, documentation, project reviews, testing, and maintenance. The position presents a range of software and computer engineering challenges such as device drivers, event systems, scientific data analysis and visualization, databases, and system and network analysis. The engineer will support experimental operations so an understanding of data acquisition and control, user interfaces, and inter-process communication is essential
job Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering with 3-5 years experience developing software in a Linux environment with an emphasis in C, scripting languages, and Java. Desirable experience includes networked attached devices and automation protocols, LabVIEW, VHDL/Verilog, Eclipse/RCP, and practical experience building open-source code. The ideal candidate will have electronic and mechanical aptitude.
