Sound on Sidetixed Mepis 8

I insatlled Mepis onto my main desktop, decided I wanted Calculate on the #2 desktop instead. Removed the Mepis repos, updated Debian to unstable, d-u'd and all. Now running a generic Debian Sid kernel 2.6.29-2-amd64 w/ KDE 4.2.2. Essentially, the same thing as sidux on this same machine. However, I have no sound. When I log in, I get the information popup that says

The audio playback device 'HDA ATI SB (ALC888 Analog) does not work.
Falling back to default.


lspci shows

alsamixer shows all the channels, none muted. This was all like this in the original Mepis install before all the upgrades.

Still, no sound with anything.

Any ideas?

Nevermind, I changed my Phonon backend from gstreamer to xine, and all is well with sound.

Sometimes, it's the simple things...
