So reinstalled my primary laptop. Decided to use network-manager on Debian. so after installing it, it wipes out my resolv.conf, but DOESN'T write any new information to it...WHAT??

So after I copy over a resolv.conf from one of my other machines, it does work. But if I boot with wireless disabled, it won't work until I enable it, then fully REBOOT.

Doesn't update resolv.conf when I connect to my aircard, uses same DNS servers as when I'm on wireless (which causes issues).

So I'm guessing this is why I had so many issues with NM on Arch. Beyond *buntu, NM is just plain horrible.

Back to wicd + kppp, which works a charm (once you give users rights to run kppp, there's a bug in Debian that the default rights to /usr/bin/kppp is read only for everyone).

As an aside, NM won't connect to broadband on *buntu though!! So even on there, I have to keep kppp around to connect to Sprint!!

it might be worth mentioning that i use NM on both gentoo and arch and have never had any trouble with it....

not sure why, because everyone else i know who'd tried it couldn't make it work....
