|
|
I do a little tcl/tk scripting and I've noticed
that not all distros install it by default.
Is the tcl shell currently installed on your system (tclsh)?
If not, would you go out of your way to install it.
I like tcl/tk, but maybe I should spend more time with perl and wxwidgets.
Is tcl fading into obscurity?

Yes, I neglected to omit Gentoo, Arch, LFS, etc... (custom systems)
I was mainly referring to popular mainstream distros,
to include all that are based on mainstream distros.
Does anyone here use tcl?
If so, how often?

You mean those prepackaged ones that can never be set up exactly the way you want hand have so many unneeded dependencies it's obscene? pah to those!
Gentoo (or funtoo) if i'vegot the time to spare.
Arch if i don't.
Windows so I can remote into work if needed.

No, but welcome.
IMNSHEO, any OS that requires the command line for everyday use is worthless.
Any OS that don't have the option is useless.
go figure
