Feels weird to be back on an old forum! i guess i should welcome myself back?

Anyways...

I recently received a cloubook by everex - there was only one of these ever made model wise. I removed the everex gos and loaded the latest gos 3.1 sp1 gadgets and everything works fine except the wifi and the cpu frequency scaling.

I had to extract wifid into /usr/bin and run that on startup with a start up script- no problems and then it worked so Icould use the acpi wifi button.

Processor is detected under /proc/cpuinfo but only shows 600mhz used instead of 1200mhz. Gentoo forums show that I need to enable a peformance setting under cpu scaling - the forum did not specify the total command but I would like som4 insight on whatI need to do. I just want to enable 600mhz when on battery power and 1200mhz on ac power.

Anyone have some ideas or some sources I can look at?

here are my specs for help:

via c7-m ulv 1200mhz processor
512mb dd2 sodimm
30gb seagate 3400rpm drive
realtek usb wifi embedded rtl3480a
via hyperion c7 chipset
gos 3.1 gadgets sp1 with all updates

Thats all I know about it. I am using it now for basic stuff and I know the video will get smoother (simple youtube and avi files under 1mb are choppy) if the mhz will go up as the previous os was full speed on scaling.

update: just found out y kernel doesnt not have cpufreq installed.

I did a backport ubuntu jaunty workaround as the gos 3.1 is based off of ubuntu.
downloaded the cpufreq backport the generic kernel using synaptic.
after install - grabbed the sources and did a make
copied e_powersaver.ko to the /lib/modul-poweres/kernel directory
loaded the module with sudo modprobe e_powersaver
works

now upon reboot it did not work

however!!!

i used sudo pico /etc/rc.init and added modprobe s_powersaver before exit 0 and the module loads on boot.

works great now.

I should of used my head and and check kernel headers. lol

but this should help some people with the device and processors as this can be generic for all processors.

Thanks for the welcome.

I am blogging about the installation and getting everything working on it so people can find it on Google.
