KDE 4.4.1 for Mandriva

KDE 4.4.1 is available for Mandriva 2024.0 on kde.org, only i586 now. x86_64 packages are still being worked on.

Packages built by Neoclust, Mandriva's head KDE dev.

ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/4.4.1/Mandriva/i586/

KDE 4.4.0 is available in the stable directory for both architectures.

Just did the upgrade from KDE 4.3.4 to KDE 4.4.1 and I think it's the smoothest KDE upgrade I have ever done.

Mandriva 2024 really is impressive and I have enjoyed it, Germ. It is a beautiful KDE desktop and it has run very well on my System 76 Pangolin laptop. Gnome is not getting as much attention but that desktop also impressed me as very well done, so a Mandriva user has a very nice set of choices.

urpmi seems slower than apt-get, but not so much that it matters a great deal. If people new to Mandriva get some help with multi-media codecs (and I found the forum very good on this question) new users will find a lot to like.

So if a person is shopping for a good solid Linux distribution Mandriva surely deserves a close look.
