Full News and Release Announcement: http://antix.mepis.com//Main_Page#News
antiX download site: http://antix.mepis.com//Main_Page#Downloads
NOTE: At the moment, use the mepisimo site above, the mirror sites will have the image soon. I checked a few of the mirror sites at mid day and they do not yet have the latest image, though you could install the 8.5 pt1 image and upgrade - that was public test 1, so there are quite a few changes since then. If you are installing, I recommend grabbing it from the mepisimo site, thanks to "Carlops" for making that available. |

Got it.
Most of the other mirrors still don't have it, but http://www.mepisimo.com/antix/Released/ delivered it at an average of 1.2 MB/s, so no problem. Now, where to put it <G><
OH, Thanks to you and him !!!

I did a fair amount of testing, and plenty of promotion. The antiX distro is definitely my favorite carry around Live CD or USB based system, but mostly I run it installed when all I plan to do is read Webmail and visit forum sites. |

I am running antiX M8.5 again tonight and I spruced up the applications a bit and added the complete XFCE desktop, and man, is it nice with antiX on my Lenovo Y410 laptop! It is nearly as fast as the lighter Fluxbox and IceWM window managers, really good looking, and very capable. Great combinations! I have some REALLY GOOD desktop systems installed on this laptop; all of them work well, but this one is truly one of my favorites and has been for a couple of years now. |

I booted it up earlier.
Still a good effort. It has been a great period for Linux. SO MANY good ones. <G><

Yesterday it was the Lenovo and XFCE, today I tried the Gateway, running XFCE first, now KDE. Both work really well - and of course, the default Windows managers are even lighter and faster, if that is what you need. What's so cool is that this is a flexible system, easy to change to make it the way you like it, then, if you want, you can save it to a USB stick or remaster an image. Very cool. |
