IBM offers certification in their subset of Linux realms http://www-1.ibm.com/certify/certs/index.shtml

Also related to certification is online learning http://www-3.ibm.com/services/learning/us/catalog/linux/

But the above sites focus on industry professionals, the people who have corporate responsibilities and corporate funding to pay for the classes. Classes which focus on professional users are usually excellent, so purchasers can easily get what you pay for; us lowly home users might not have a few thousand $$ to spare.

For those folks that haven't the financial backing http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/ offers a lot of excellent information for no cost.

What do you get out of it? I've looked into it, and it costs about �700! I can't afford that, I'm 17 ffs. I've been told by people who've gone through it that I probably have enough know-how to pass it with a little revision, but what sort of job would you land from it? I mean, I won't be out of uni for at least 5 years!

Me and my wife own our own corp and still don't have a few thousand $$ to spare. I still spend most of my time reading documentation, watching the mailing lists, browsing the websites, googleing and reading tech books, Thats where 99% of what I know comes from. I'd like to take a formal course and fill in the holes but shesh, no money to do all that. I about broke the bank going after my network+ cert. Surprised
