Looking for links to websites that have up-to-date information about hardware compatibility in Linux. Since I need a list and we all might benefit from anyones elses knowledge....

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Hardware-HOWTO/
http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/

And if you want to know which manufacturers sell hardware that is supported:

Since hardware compatibility is so much less of a problem these days, I wonder if it would be better to start/use/list pages of incompatible hardware.

Seems to me that would keep the lists shorter, and if ACME Hardware Inc. saw there name in bold on an incompatibility site, maybe they'd be more inclined to do something about it. . .

Any pages like that?

Here's a couple that I found that might be reasonably up to date.

While that may sound like a better path to take, I'm thinking that when we visit compatibility links, we get to see how compatibility was determined - how it got done (which modules, what features to not use), when it was known to be compatible (and how compatible was it, under which kernel, is the hardware still working in my new kernel, etc.).

Personally, I'd rather stick with the 'compatible' list, but post what you want - please remember the thread starts with the topic title "Hardware Compatibility links", is not titled 'Hardware Inompatibility links', so when you post, please title your post with some word that tells us the post is not saying compatible but is actually saying incompatible.....

Posts without the word 'incompatible', the people that search our posts using the search feature could easily get the wrong idea from their search results if they don't see the word 'incompatible' associated with their search result, know what I mean?.
