Beta 6 release
December 15th, 2024

New Beta 6 will be released for members and as public demo this weekend. It features new vector brush engine with dynamically resizable brushes, a lot of optimizations and speed improvements, improved text tool and hundreds of bug fixes as usual. New UI themes are included in this release. Stay tuned.

Beta 6 release is slightly delayed due to few critical issues discovered by first beta testers.

Even though it's beta, it's a VERY cool app. The screenshots shown here show alot of the functions available http://www.kanzelsberger.com/pixel/?page_id=5

Generally I am too, but without 16 bit graphics, CMYK and other basics, it is loosing serious ground in the arena of image editing software, and is almost useless to professionsals.

I've been following the gimp developer mailing list, and after the next major release (2.4), work is supposed to start on adding all of these long requested features. Looks like it will be a huge re-write, using gegl (General Graphical Library www.gegl.org) as the base for a lot of the functionality. LOTS of work to do.

Todd
