I am trying to setup a lab for our school. I recently got two thin clients to experiment with: a Sun Ray 1 and a Neoware Capio One with Windows CE (connects to Citrix ICA). How can I get these to work on K12ltsp? If I can get either of them to work, I can get more, and this would solve a lot of problems because I can build a cheap lab. Otherwise, our school does not have too many options right now. Any help will be appreciated. I have about 6 months linux experience and several months of K12.

Honestly, I haven't worked with either of these thin clients.... i would refer you to the K12LTSP mailing list.... they have ALOT of people that work with a much larger base of hardware.... and if those two thin clients will work, then someone will have the config settings for the server already figured out.

Their mailing list is here:
http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/k12osn

Sorry i couldn't be of more help.... perhaps someone else here has experience with those clients.

Welcome to usalug Wink

Just as an offhand guess, I'd say the Sun Ray would have better odds of working with LTSP than the CE box. But that info is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Forget about using the Sun Ray unless you want to shell out for the Sun Ray Server (which is probably big buxx. I couldn't find a price, though) Rolling Eyes

Sorry to bring this old thread up.. but I wanted to correct the inaccuate information by the previous poster. The sun ray server software is free and runs on many linux distrobutions. Including Ubuntu. The details of the install can be found here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOnSunRay

I think mr_ed might have been talking about an actual server, not just software.

That may be, but he said "forget about the Sun Ray". I wanted to make sure this young person knows that there is a free and open option for getting the Sun Ray working. I personally use a sun ray 1 and a sun ray 150 in my house under Ubuntu and sun ray server software 3.1 and can vouch for the technology. They are excellent devices. I first learned about them in college as our CS labs were almost exclusively sun rays.

I gladly stand corrected. Very Happy I was referring to the software.

I scoured Sun's site looking for info on it, but couldn't find a thing!

Excellent link, SpinozaQ, thanks!
