Hello all,

I am trying to format a floppy from the terminal I have setup. Any ideas? Thanks a ton!

mkfs.msdos /dev/fd0
will create an MSDOS formatted disk.

mke2fs /dev/fd0
will create an ext2 formatted disk.

This assumes that your floppy is on /dev/fd0 .......of course. If it's not /dev/fd0, replace that with the correct path.

Thanks for the reply. The path that you mentioned has to do with the floppy drive attached to the server in this setup. I am attempting for a user to sit at the thin client terminal (k12ltsp) insert a floppy and format it and then be able to save to it. I cannot mount the thin client floppy. However, I can access the floppy by using MtoolsFM. It gives a whole bunch of errors when I try to save to the disk. It is rather frustrating. Any info would be appreciated! Smile

hmmmmm
http://www.ltsp.org/documentation/floppyd.html might be of some help, i've ran several K12LTSP installs, but never tried to mount a floppy on a local terminal.

Hope that link helps some.
