I could see that this post was turning into a thread like this, so I thought I would start an "official" thread, so as people could put what they have that works. I'll start the ball rolling:

Player: Creative Zen Touch 20gb
Price: £130 (£135 in deliv. - www.komplett.co.uk)
Software Used: libnjb and gnomad2
Ease of use (with linux): Libnjb was easy, but to use gnomad2 I had to reinstall the whole of gtk2 from source which is not that easy. Gnomad2 also occasionally throws a wobbly. Also, I just remembered that you must run Gnomad2 from cli as root, otherwise it does not have permission to scan for the player.

i have an iRiver (cause i like ogg)

Player: iRiver iFP-895 512MB
Price: $129
Software Used: ifp-line with the ifp-manager
Ease of use: You can either just use the ifp-line commands, or the GUI frontend (manager) to do what you need. Very easy Smile

I was thinking of putting linux on my iPod so that I could get ogg support. Has anyone here gotten it to work?

This is probably one of the easiest mp3 players to use in linux I have found...
Clicker Pocki MP3 Player

I plug it into my USB, and a window opens (I have automount set) and I drag and drop my mp3's into the directory. While it's plugged up to download... it's recharging the battery. It came with 256 M for memory... but is upgradable using SD cards. If only it could play ogg then I'd be sold 100% Smile

I was going to mention that the Samsung YP-U1 has all of that, but it doesn't have an SD reader. It's 1 GB internal flash only.

The iRiver's U10, T30, the iFP 700 & 800 series support oggies.

There are also open source projects going on from some (all?) of these players.

AFAIK, some of the projects that are in the works are for getting linux support for some of the players (I'm not trying to sound fuzzy, but I have a 320 and haven't had a need to research these players).

If you find a player that you like and doesn't work with linux, then see if Rockbox has a port for it (BTW, this applies to any player).

I just use mp3s on mine - I rip them from cd using ripperX and then just open gnomad2 and transfer them across.

crouse, I'd advise not buying one of the new iRivers. I would have bought one if they didn't require Windows Media Player 10, but they do.

Vote with your money... buy something that plays OGG and is platform-agnostic.
