Change your KDE desktop wallpaper from the command line.

Code:
dcop kdesktop KBackgroundIface setWallpaper /home/crouse/Wallpapers/guns_1024x768.jpg 5


Change your wallpaper path (dont' use mine lol ).... and you can change your wallpaper when using KDE from a shell command line.

Might make for some interesting Scripts Wink

Ooooh, just found this. I could use this, and wget, in a script to grab the monthly userfriendly.org wallpaper and set it Smile

I'd been toying with the notion, but hadn't dug into how to do the wallpaper change scriptily!

Small addendum - you MUST have the FULL path to the wallpaper, or it won't work. Also, AFAICT, this ONLY affects the current desktop. If you want to change it for all desktops, you'll need to do a bit more work.

Heh, I used to do the opposite of that. I used kcontrol to set my wallpaper, then had a script which fluxbox ran to get it, and use fbsetroot on it.
Didn't use dcop though, just cut and sed...

come to think of it, I wrote a filter called "trim" which did the same as cut, then I discovered cut Embarassed
