Slackware Linux today features a powerful and easy-to-use package management system, but making Slackware packages has not always been straightforward. Now Slackware application developers have a tool for easily making Slackware packages from source code and precompiled binaries. Src2pkg, now in version 1.6, very nearly lives up to its author's tag of being Slackware's "magic package maker."

Yeah, I saw the article in linux.com, and downloaded the package. Haven't had time to give it a spin. I've got the handle on Slackbuilds (at last).

I've learned that Slackware is a distro that one wants to fully install (if you are not too linux smart) cause missing stuff may come back to haunt ya. The permissions things (as elucidated by mmmna) can really mess things up, too. One can have a nice, new app that only runs from root Laughing

That said, the distro has been ideal in performance, so far, with just enough of a learning curve and documentation to not allow discouragement to shut me down. Wink
