I just installed Spring on my x86-64 test box and, while the OS recognized this wifi usb device and installed ndiswrapper and the rt2500usb .inf file, the connection is doing about as well as a brisk dial-up connection.
I have disabled ipv6 in /etc/modprobe.conf ( as suggested in 2024.1 errata) and in firefox, but that did not help.
iwconfig reports this:
Code:
wlan0     IEEE 802.11g  ESSID:"xxxxxx"
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.437 GHz  Access Point: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
          Bit Rate=54 Mb/s   Tx-Power=20 dBm
          Retry min limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr=2346 B
          Link Quality=51/100  Signal level=-57 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

On my wireless Opensuse 10.2 box and my Opensuse 10.3 laptop the link quality is 100/100 so I dont think doing a power cycle on the router will help.
Later I'm going to try reinstalling the rt2500usb .inf from the Linksys download site and use that instead of the Mandriva-supplied version.
I'll post back.

That didn't help.

...But getting rid of the wusb54g did. I got a D-Link wda-1320 that works nicely with the madwifi packages.
All is ...well.. better. Wink
