Systems Administrator - Infrastructure - Red Hat- FTE


Job Description:
Systems Administrator- Infrastructure- Red Hat- Northridge CA

Responsibilities include:
• Install and maintain server hardware, operating systems and infrastructure-related applications on a multiplatform environment.
• Perform system administration on Redhat Linux, HPUX, Debian, Sun Solaris, MAC OS and VM/ESX servers.
• Maintain a high availability environment consisting of Linux clusters utilizing a centralized EMC SAN storage solution.
• Perform monthly system maintenance to keep all servers at current release/patch levels. Conduct OS performance tuning and ensure that all servers operate at optimum levels.
• Support the installation of application software in conjunction with other IT units.
• Resolve any system related problems and academic computing issues in a timely manner. Monitor operating systems for potential security issues/intrusion attacks.
• Maintain local server accounts and keep folder/file permissions current.
• Confirm all systems are being backed up sucessfully on a nightly basis.
• Work as an effective project team member with other members of the Infrastructure Services unit. Act as a consultant on server related issues to the campus communities.
• Write technical operations procedures and system documentation, primarily to be used by the Operations staff and other members of Infrastructure Services

Details:
Primary responsibilities include the installation, configuration and maintenance of the centrally administered Red Hat servers. Provide OS tuning and kernel configurations to meet campus application requirements. Provide patch management on all servers. Develop Bash, Korn andPearl scripts. Create adhoc LDAP reports. Establish automated mechanisms to monitor server resources and connections. Demonstrate technical knowledge and diagnostic skills to provide rapid resolution of server/application related issues.
Install, configure and maintain HPUX, Debian, Sun Solaris, MS 2024, MAC and VM ESX servers. Configure systems to meet application needs.

Must Have: Undergraduate Degree, preferably in Computer Science

NOTE
PLEASE NOTE: Outstanding work environment where people tend to stay a very long time with fabulous benefits galore. Compensation for this position is $75 - 100K tops. If this is your range, this could be your job!
