Hi everyone,
I've got this problem, which might be common for some of you. I've used till a few weeks ago my PC in the University, and we were all connected to a server. Now, I've taken my PC back home.
Now, when I'm trying to login as root, without WWW connection works fine. But, if I put the cable to my hub, the PC is looping indefinitely searching for the server that it used to find it in the booting sequence.
Any information is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Hey, liviu. Been a while. Smile

Be sure you dont have a network server set as your 1st boot device in the PC's bios setup utility.
Then I would I check my nic configuration.
What distro are you running now?
What kind of PC and cable do you connect with?
HTH

Nope it's not the case.

Now I'm running Suse 10.1

I connect through a hub -taken from Dublin, DSL connection- to a PPPOE . I used to connect at boot as user (let's say liviu@vincent presuming vincent was the server name).

Sorry for the late reply. I have not used a DSL/pppoe connection so I may be of limited help with this.
Are you saying you cannot boot up as a regular user with the cable unplugged?
Have you tried booting as root with the cable unplugged and deleting all the old configurations in Yast2?
Do you have some kind of thin client software still installed that may be running a script or process?
Have you contacted Dublin DSL and if so, what did they say?
Hope this helps.
